During an Irons Fitting we’ll look at all of the clubs from the long irons all the way down through the wedges.
We focus on balancing distance with performance – in our experience, if golfers chase distance, they will very likely sacrifice control when the ball lands.
To do this effectively, we begin any fitting by analysing your existing irons using a Trackman 4 launch monitor. We look at many data points such as club length, loft, lie, face angle & digital swing weight, which all together provides a foundational data benchmark so we know what we’re starting with, then we find the best irons for you.
Zoning in on launch angle and spin characteristics is the key for players to control the ball and enable them to attack pins and improve scores.
We can do this because we use interchangeable head and shaft technology at our performance centre, meaning we can test hundreds of head and shaft options to find your perfect flight control.
We fully acknowledge that the driver gets you in play off the tee, but the irons and wedges are what allows you to attack pins and make birdies or save pars.
Knowing what flight and control you’re going to have when you hit into greens gives you the confidence that you have every yardage covered to play your best game.
The club head and shaft are equally important. The shaft is most important for general timing and swing synchronisation with an affect on feel of the club and the head is most important for managing ball flight (launch and spin) and off-centre performance based on your strike pattern. One cannot make up for the other and are equally as important.
All heads and shafts that we stock start as options, however we are quickly able to narrow the selection down for both head and shaft based on the flight profile you need and the weight that is suitable for you.
This way we can dial in on the best outcome rather than wasting unnecessary time and energy hitting options that are irrelevant.
Every golfer has different swing dynamics depending on their size, strength, athletic ability and technique. Iron head design can complement unique playing styles. Therefore, careful consideration and independent product knowledge from our experienced iron custom fitter are vital to evaluating suitability.
After testing relevant heads from all manufacturers which fall within your suited head design, we will offer tailored advice on recommended set makeup. If your existing iron heads are appropriate, we will always advocate a re-shaft before looking at building your new irons. However, recommendations are always backed up with visible TrackMan launch monitor data, demonstrating performance gains.
